ETHAN
8 year old Sports Star, Ray of Sunshine, Laughing Machine, Giver of Adorable Smiles
Ethan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was only 2 years old, and wears an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor (GCM) 24h/7 to stay safe.
Ethan dreams of a happy, healthy future where he can be a professional soccer player for Perth Glory or Barcelona. He loves being outdoors, bike riding and playing with his friends.
BEC JOHNSON
CEO of the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre, Confidence and Awareness Builder
Diagnosed in 2001, Bec’s mission is to build a confident, connected and inspired type 1 community in WA. She aims to help kids like Ethan achieve his dreams and thrive with type 1.
Alongside her work at the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre, Bec is an inspiration to people impacted by type 1 diabetes, and has swum solo across the 20-kilometre Rottnest Channel, sailed across the Atlantic, and become a SCUBA dive guide.
