Perth’s Young Warrior

Have you met Perth’s Young Warrior, Owen James DiCandilo?
If you have not yet had the privilege of meeting him then it is likely that you would have heard about him. He is an incredibly brave and inspiring little boy.

Owen’s parents refer to Owen as their “young warrior” and the reason being is that everyday this beautiful little boy battles a condition he was diagnosed with when he was only three months old.

Owen was born with a rare genetic brain malformation condition called Lissencephaly, and as a result of his Lissencephaly he also has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, cortical vision impairment, epilepsy tendencies and global development delay.

Being told he may never hold his head up, sit, crawl, walk or talk this has been devastating for his family, but they are driven to provide for him the best therapy available with the goal to maximize his development as a child.

Owen requires full time care and this will be ongoing for the remainder of his life. The goal of his parents, as would be any parent, is to given Owen the best quality of life possible.

All of his therapies, equipment and support come at an immense financial cost. For this reason Health Freak Café Mount Lawley are joining forces with Owen’s brave parents to raise awareness for his rare condition.

Joanne and Mark Hopkins (Health Freak Café Mount Lawley Franchisees) want to help Owen, share his story, and raise funds for his foundation – ”As much as we possibly can.”

Sunday 9th October Joanne and Mark are dedicating this day to this amazing little boy. Come down to Health Freak Café Mount Lawley on Sunday, 9th October & help support Perth’s Young Warrior, Owen James DiCandilo.

Owen and his family will also be there to join in on all of the Health Freak fun!

Proceeds from the sales on the day will be donated to help with Owen’s intense treatment and specialized equipment.

Tickets can also be purchased for OJD Gala, being held on Friday 21st October, where all funds raised are helping Owen.
