If your Instagram feed hasn’t been flooded with tempting photots from Health Freak Cafe, North Ryde, then we don’t know where you’ve been.

Located in the Macquarie Centre, is the newly opened Health Freak Café. It originated in Perth, but is extending its reach in Sydney, with more locations to come.

What makes this place different to other ‘healthy’ eateries is that it’s totally sugar free and gluten free.

The menu is incredible, and being a vegan, I usually have very limited options at most places. I was over-the-top excited when I saw that they had VEGAN PANCAKES. And not just any pancake, but it was vegan pumpkin spiced protein pancakes with salted caramel sauce and O-M-G was it amazing.

Presented just as it looks in the photos, the texture and flavour was perfect. They were thick, cinnamon-spiced with a sweet sauce, berries and apples. It was literally a dream come true.

I definitely wanted something savoury as well, because it was the photo of their ultimate vegan burger that got me there in the first place. But, instead of a normal bread bun, they were able to swap it for two pieces of sweet potato, which was delishhhhh.

Some of the other amazing things I wish I could’ve tried include the cookie dough bliss raw cake dessert bowl, the eggplant involtini and the chickpea, spinach quinoa and sweet potato curry.

The service was on point. They were friendly, passionate and professional and although I arrived when the kitchen closed, they were more than happy to accommodate.

I wish my stomach were big enough (and the dollars never ended) because I wanted to eat everything. I guess I’ll just have to go back again, and again, and again.

So do yourself a favour and indulge in wholesome, nutritious and creative food at Health Freak Café.
